WHAT IS ART?
Today's theme is ART- Thanks to TNCHICK.
The following are shots that I took of glass artist- Dale Chihuly's work at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. Most of you may be more familiar with his work on the ceiling of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
I love how he combined the blown glass with the natural organic textures of the foliage and plants in the garden. This is art.

Those are all gorgeous. I think this artist did a sculpture that is at the Mohegan Sun Casino just down the road from me, the glass spirals look very, very familiar.
All the photos are magnificent. Man-made art and nature are a lovely combination. Thank you for sharing and visiting mine. Take care!
That is some seriously gorgeous work. I am so impressed. Thanks for sharing the great photos and thanks for coming by mine!

Happy Weekend from Sunny Paree!!!
Wow, love these. And to make it part of a natural setting and get lost with it is even very effective. Truly, a work of art.
Happy weekend!
This is amazing. I would love to take a walk there.
I love his work. Yes, I've seen the ceiling in the Bellagio and it is gorgeous but these are so different from the Las Vegas glass, just stunning!
Wow, interesting pieces!

So delicate! Such fragile beauty. I've never been to Vegas so this is new to me!
Oh beautiful!
I first saw Dale Chihuly's work in Studio Potter magazine. I have it here somewhere.... wait a mo...
Argh! Didn't realise it was that long ago! December 1976, Dale Chihuly and the Glass Cylinders.
He was making cylinders patterned like indian blankets, the article was full of photographs of the process.
And so, to see your photographs, wonderful! it awoke old memories, reminiscenses of old friends, glassblowers, of trying to make pieces... And my respect for anyone who has mastered that art.
Such beautiful, unique pieces of art. I'd love to see those in person. Thanks for sharing them with us.
You are invited to my Art Exhibit too. :o)
I love those photos. Very pretty and very artistic!
Art in nature! I especially like the top one of the close up. Hmm...I wonder if I can find something like that for my fountain?

Those are beautiful photos and very creative!
The colors in the glass are brilliant! I think it would be a hard (and hot) medium to work with. Thanks for sharing something I don't get to see everyday.

fancy what you can do with glass, if only you're into the "art of glass blowing" :D
Wow those are absolutely stunning!
PS I've tagged you, but only if you want to do it.
Very cool! Those are amazing works of art. Lovely! :)
Chihuly glass is the best art ever! I have seen two other exhibits of his work that were fabulous -- one at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville and the other in Israel at the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem. I would die to own a piece of his work!
