Old Year, Old Skins

The past year is ending- a new one begins.

What will change? And, for the better or worse?

I anticipate a better year, A happier year, a more productive year. Those are my anticipations.
Only I can make it happen. To do this things need to change. I need to change.
Shed old skin. Clothe myself in a new one. A brighter one, a healthier one. Here goes.

"Be at war with your vices,
At peace with your neighbors,
And let every New Year find you a better man"

Benjamin Franklin

Unconditional Love

"To be brave is to love someone unconditionally, without expecting anything in return. To just give. That takes courage, because we don't want to fall on our faces or leave ourselves open to hurt."

Was giving my heart so completely bravery or stupidity?
To give wholeheartedly, willingly, lovingly. Worth the hurt? Worth the feelings of failure? Worth the sadness? I hope so.

Not wanting to give up on love leaves me with these questions.
Shall I give of myself completely again (expecting nothing in return)?
We shall see.

As we grow older and realize more clearly the limitations of human happiness
We come to see that the only real and abiding pleasure in life is to give
pleasure to other people.

P.G. Wodehouse

I love this quote and truly believe it.

I try to please others. If only they realized it.

Is it enough that I know in my heart that
I am trying?
