Wow! Yesterday was the kind of day I've been looking forward to for months.
The temperature reached 80 degrees. The sky was clear and sunny. Perfect day for a long, long drive.
After 32 years I was able to get my DREAM car. How great to finally be able to put the top down and head west to the foothills. I cranked the stereo up and tooled down the road with the wind in my hair. I think I smiled all day.
This car makes me feel great!
2002 Jaguar xk8
This is my all-time favorite "car" song. Don't know why. I suppose it's because I loved the EAGLES especially their older (you know, "Desperado" stuff). Or, maybe it just reminds me of somebody from my high school days.
Well, my time went too quickly
I went lickety-splitly out to my old fifty-five
As I pulled away slowly, feelin' so holy,
God knows I was feelin' alive
And now the sun's comin' up
I'm ridin' with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade
Just a wishin' I'd stayed a little longer
Lord, don't you know the feelin's gettin' stronger
Six in the morning, gave me no warnin'
I had to be on my way
Now the cars are all passin' me,
Trucks are all flashin' me
I'm headed home from your place
And now the sun's comin' up
I'm ridin' with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade
Just a wishin' I'd stayed a little longer
Lord, don't you know, the feelin's gettin' stronger
Well, my time went to quickly
I went lickety-splitly out to my old fifty-five
As I pulled away slowly, feelin' so holy,
God knows I was feelin' alive
And now the sun's comin' up, yes it is
I'm ridin' with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Freeway cars and trucks,
Ridin' with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks,
Ridin' with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Ridin' with Lady Luck...
this is what the day looked like as it was ending. Sunset view through the trees from my back deck. Glass of wine, steak on the grill, caesar salad. BLISS

I want that day! (And the car! HA!) I love all The Eagles old stuff too. It reminds me of the days when I first met my husband...so young and carefree!
Oh wow, Gewels, that is One Cool Car! Congratulations!
You can always find me via Luxor's blog http://awhitecat.blogspot.com, but I am - I'm feeling much better!
(Now if I could only have a car like yours. :))
Loving the car...haven't checked in for awhile. Life has been rolling at full speed and I guess I feel kind of like you...with the windows down, stereo cranked, and the wind in my hair. Gotta love spring. So far, so good with the baby, but insurance issues made us move the wedding up to last Friday night. Not what we'd planned, but beautiful nonetheless. So I'm married and wondering just how this all happened so fast. Sounds like you're lovin' life...And why not...
Wow Gewels!!!
and deja vu.....I think Steve and Soubry both did that Waits song: one the lyrics and Soub the YouTube video....great song; great car; great day! And YES A River Runs Through It IS one of the Best of the Best!!!
Me, I'll take a '55 Chevy truck or a '66 with a white bumper and steel rims....don't know why.....something about driving country roads with the dogs in the back....
hugs

MOI- yup, those young and carefree days. Hey, where did they go?
Elaine- Great to hear from you. I've missed you. I'll make sure to check out Luxor's blog (but, I have to admit I liked yours better)
Melissa- So glad to hear all is well with the hubby and the baby!
Life does race by at break-neck speed. Does it not? Enjoy every second.
Red dirt girl- years ago I had the most awesome pick-up. I think it was a '70 something or other. You're right- perfect for the dogs in the back. Hubby didn't care for it so he sold it. I felt like an amazon in it- Towering above everybody in this powerful huge, brawny vehicle.
The jag only fits my one little dog-Simone (the corgi) in the back seat with room left for a couple of shopping bags of shoes. My other girl-Kayla (the lab) has to stay home when we head out to the shoe store.Poor baby.
Gewel in a Jag..kind of rolls off the tongue, don't it?
I had a '55 Pontiac Star Chief, in High School...mine was a 4-Door and I'd love to have another one.
All the smarts in the world won't replace Lady Luck...
Had an old Corvair in High School! I loved that Blue Bomb! The gear thing was on the dash!
Gewel in the JAg? Hmmm, sounds sexier than hag in the jag, don't you think?
My first car was a '68 mustang- red, had to be. Loved it.
:)!!
cool!! would have loved to drive that car. soooo.....wow!!
let it zip and feel the wind in my hair.
congratulations! its great you finally got your dream car..mine is a porsche.
and thanks for your comment on my poem. glad you liked it and it expressed what you feel...:)
Hi Gewels! That's a beautiful car. It must have felt wonderful as you took it for its first drive. Congratulations for getting your hard earned dream car. I love how your day ended with that marvelous display of colors in the sky.
I'm very jealous! We just got rid of our snow last week!
Strolling by your shop again.....and a thought just hit me:
Hagalicious......yes.....good word.

RG- Hagalicious, Hmm, dunno 'bout that. One of my employees actually coined the term for me. When I got my car I would always ride around with my friend Travis. So in my birthday card she wrote "to the hag in the jag with the fag" So there you go.
When I first started blogging my blog was titled "no more junk in the trunk" ('cause I was also working on losing a few lbs.) and I posted as Hag in the jag.
I think I do prefer Gewel in the jag- thanks Steve.
When I started this blog and going through my low period I needed a brighter, more sparkly name- hence Gewels.
