Grandma, Granny, Meemaw---ah, Gigi

Welcome my new Grandson Greyson- born Jan 23rd at 5:20 pm.

Isn't he gorgeous? Of course that question is coming from the new grandma.

By the way- He will be calling me Gigi. I am way too young to be called Grandma.

I FALL IN LOVE MUCH TOO EASILY

I attended the Horse World Expo here in Maryland yesterday.
I am totally smitten with Andalusians. I believe this will be my first horse of choice when I am ready to purchase one. After I get my gorgeous new 150 acre horse farm, that is.

I do so love living in my own little fantasy world.

Aren't they magnificent creatures?

Good places make good horses.

WINTER BLOOMS

Back in November I took a little trip up to Longwood Gardens in Delaware. Here are some shots of their winter display. Nothing like gorgeous blooms on a dreary, drizzly day such as we are having today.

On this cold and freezing day,
The Russian sage does gently sway,
And miniature roses perfume the air,
I can see them blooming there.
Though days are short, my vision's clear.
And through the snow, the buds appear.

In my mind, clematis climbs,
And morning glories do entwine.
Woodland phlox and scarlet pinks,
Replace the frost, if I just blink.
My inner eye sees past the snow.
And in my mind, my garden grows."

THE LETTER

Several weeks ago the following hand-written letter was handed to me by a friend. It had been handed to her by another friend who received it from the letter-writer- who is incarcerated.

I don't know why this woman is in jail. Assault, drugs, prostitution? Who knows. But the fact that she felt compelled to SAY something and pass it on says allot about who she really is. This was intended to be personally handed from woman to woman- as oppposed to being sent to 5,000 of your closest email friends.

I have chosen to not only personally pass it on, but to pass it on here.

We can all read the message and know that it applies to all of us STRONG women.

The kind of beauty I want most is the hard-to-get kind that comes from within - strength, courage, dignity.

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU

I received this fabulous pop-up book from a dear friend. It is designed by David Pelham- an award-winning designer. It is reminiscent of a forested landscape which is adorned with flowers, mushrooms, nesting birds, butterflies and even an iguana. All ending in a silvery reflecting pool with resting turtles and dragonflies.

Sit back, put your feet up, grab that second cup of coffee and leaf through it at your leisure.

And Here is an Irish toast which accompanied the book.
"In the New Year may your right hand always be stretched out in friendship, never in want"

BLOGIVERSARY

Oh my God- I missed my blogiversary!!!!!! How did that happen?
I know- I was running on the beach in Charleston, S.C. with my Granddog Fletch and his very pregnant Mom- Anna.

A very cleaned up Fletch. Isn't he adorable? Granddogs are THE BEST!

Actually - December 31st was my 1 year anniversary of spilling out my angst, photos and stupid observations. Will I continue down this path another year? Probably....why the hell not? I've got nothing better to do.

And, oh yes- HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!

Happiness is too many things these days for anyone to wish it on anyone lightly. So let's just wish each other a bile-less New Year and leave it at that.Judith Crist
